2014 BMW 320i Test Drive & Entry-Level Luxury Car Video Review

http://www.autobytel.com/bmw/320/2014/?id=32972 More and more luxury car companies are broaden their model line-up in an effort to grab a piece of the entry-level segment. Last year BMW released the most inexpensive sedan: the 320i. The competition is tough though with the Cadillac ATS, Mercedes CLA, Lexus IS 250, and the Infiniti Q50. The 2014 BMW 320i has a base price of ,550.

The 3-Series is one of the most important cars in the BMW line-up as it’s the volume seller. The 3-Series is the lynch-pin of the line-up and the 2014 320i is the affordable entry-level model. Looking at this car you would not be able to tell that the 320i is the least expensive of the bunch. Up front this car sports the big kidney grilles and the sharp-cut headlamps.

Under the hood lives a very nice power plant that combines technology and fuel economy into a good base engine. The engine is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder TwinPower Turbocharged unit that makes 180 horsepower and 200 lb-ft. of torque. This car is tuned more for fuel economy rather than power and the results speak for themselves with the 2014 BMW 320i netting 24 MPG in the city and 36 MPG on the highway.

So just where did BMW save the money considering the 328i cost k more? On the inside the 320i feels slightly downgraded from the rest of the models. The BMW looks are still there is seems like the material is not as high-end.

  1. This is a great review by Autobytel on the 2014 BMW 3 Series 320i luxury
    compact executive sports car. #2014BMW3Series #BMW3SeriesReview #BMW320i

  2. 320i feels slightly downgraded? That’s curious… because if you order
316i, 320i, 328i or the 335i in the same trim, the interior is identical.
Not similar – it’s identical… Same plastics, same trim, same everything.
The 328i costs more because it has a different computer specs which
increases the boost and it has a double exhaust…. That’s about it and
    that’s what you pay for.

  3. Lets face it Americans and long term investments just dont add up. Don’t
they know that smaller engines like a 2.0 which is considered quite big in
europe which has engines like a 1.2 1.4 1.6 are more economical then again
our petrol, notice how i said petrol and not “GAS” is more expensive we
also have great diesel engine which have only started to appear in america.
But the population have no clue how to get better fuel economy at all i
pitty them to be honnest. Shame really they could save alot more if they
did a bit more research and stopped buying fuel guzzlers.

I loved the BMW but now I think I’ll pass this time, there is no more sense
of pension to the BMW management. All the cars are getting better Audi,
Merc, even VW is coming. I feel like I’m driving a batch I mean 2ls today
they can offer you more kw better interior design and better or fresh looks

  5. @ 0:50. You are wrong . That is not an M sport line. Talking bollocks. It
may have an M sport steering wheel but thats it.

  6. you people need to check out the kia optima sx turbo. Fully loaded sedan
with 274hp for under the base price of this car. It looks awesome too.

  7. The 320i wasn’t offered in M Sport or any other lines, the video is
incorrect. This 320i has the optional sport package, the only thing

Why would anyone pay that kind of price, we are talking almost 50k for a 3
series here if equipped properly, and still won’t have the safety features
we need in a modern day car. I can get a Prius that have more options than
this car and have tons of money left over. This It is still a very dated
car with manual seat, where are the roll up windows? Now that’s paying for
the badge. BMW have you guys seen the 2015 C-class?

Mazda 6 gives slightly more hp, better mpg, fun driving dynamics/handling
but no nightmare repair bills that BMW is known for….all for 21-29k

  10. Had one as a loaner while my 11′ 328i (which I love) was getting serviced.
I was very dissapointed. the interior was soooooo cheap. look and feel. The
engine sucks. I am very disappointed with what my fave brand is doing.
